Spending is up this holiday which is good news for retailers, and at least one chain is willing to stay open 24 hours a day if it means more cash. Macy’s will offer round-the-clock shopping for three nights beginning Wednesday, December 21st, at 14 select stores. They’ll be open for 83 hours straight until Christmas Eve at 6 P.M.
If your store is not one of the 14 to stay open 24 hours a day, and by my count another 24 will stay open until 2 A.M. on those three nights right before Christmas. In all, 27 stores will participate in one of the shopping gimmicks.
Macy’s began staying open 24 hours in 2006, and more recently added the 2 A.M. option.

Macy’s made sure to point out its associates volunteer to work these overnight hours. It’s a factoid I found interesting considering the social media backlash from stores opening on Thanskgiving.
